UniversID

The Background

UniversID will effectively improve the process of college students being able to identify themselves using a facial recognition app rather than a school ID for purchases, attendance, university registration etc.

The Challenge

The problems that are being faced within the university is that there is multiple time consuming ways to complete easy tasks on campus like swiping for class attendance being one of them. How do we shorten simple campus tasks and improve campus life for students by having one mobile ID application that does the basic needs and more?

Trademark

“The counter space of the u” is the body of the student the “title” of the eye is the head of the student and u and i represents the initials of the brand.

Value

UniversID will provide a way for college students to manage all of their college life on one all-encompassing app using facial recognition in a concise way.

Authentication

When students first attend freshman orientation their picture is quickly taken by a kiosk, so their image can be linked to their name and university assigned ID number on the application. After that, facial recognition will already recognize each individual when they first authenticate the profile on their mobile device.

Verification Step

After students have already authenticated their face in the previous step, they’re asked for a one time verification step of their student ID to make sure the system didn’t pick up another student that looks similar to them.

Point System

Students receive points for completing activities or attending events. Then they can later use up their points for snacks or bookstore bucks.

Library Function

Check out library books through the UniversID application and also receive notifications when books are about to be due.

Recreation Workout Funtion

Most students us the school gym to workout in the afternoons so they’re able to face scan with their own device and walk right into the gym. Without having to look for their physical ID or give the staff their ID number’s since their ID cards were left at home.

Event Theater Arts Function

If students need to check-in to an event for attendance taking or to receive participation points, the app will use GPS tracking and then they can tap and check-in using the face scan.

Classroom Function

The app also includes grades, daily class schedule and any club or group meetings.

If students need to check-in to a class the app will offer that specific function but also force students to have GPS on in order to avoid class absences.
